In this lesson students will read about different peoples experiences of health or belief based dietary requirements, will learn the vocabulary about this and will ask each other about their dietary requirements.

In this lesson students will listen to people talking about why they are vegetarian or vegan and will ask each other about their eating habits/preferences.

In this lesson students will read information on sleeping statistics and problems and will match headings to paragraphs on this topic.

Sleeping Well

In this lesson students will listen to a talk with tips for better sleep, will talk about bedtime routines and will compile a list of organisations who offer support for those experiencing difficulties sleeping.

A Balanced Diet

In this lesson students will read about healthy eating, food content – protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, saturated and unsaturated fats – with matching and T/F activities and learn to make healthier choices when food shopping and menu-planning.

In this lesson students will share their favourite recipes, in writing and in spoken form, including explaining how to prepare them.

In this lesson students will learn about dental hygiene, practice explaining problems they may have with their teeth or gums and practice making an appointment with the dentist or hygienist.

In this lesson students will practice the appropriate vocabulary to use, practice making an appointment and practice using the causative passive (to have something done).

In this lesson students will learn the vocabulary of common illnesses, infections and common treatments and begin to collate this information in a vocabulary file or book organized by theme or alphabetically.

In this lesson students will share ideas about ways of volunteering, read volunteers’ experiences, read about the health benefits of volunteer work and discuss the advantages of volunteering.

In this lesson students will find out about breakfast all over the world; discover and practice the language we use in recipe procedures and exchange recipes.

Talking about Feelings

In this lesson students will consider what physical and mental health means, will read about different people’s experiences and will use adjectives to describe negative feelings.

Mental Health Problems

In this lesson students will discuss mental health and illnesses through a fact/myth quiz, will practice expressing thoughts when they are not sure, and will think about whether talking about mental health problems is a taboo in some countries or cultures.

In this lesson students will review vocabulary related to mental health, will look at statistics and will practise using the language of guessing and some verb-noun collocations.

Depression

In this lesson students will use the language of speculation to discuss misconceptions about depression, they will watch a YouTube video which mentions social, physical and psychological symptoms and it will be emphasised how important it is for both men and women to be unashamed, to talk/take steps to get better and to seek help (teachers will tell them where they can find help locally/nationally).
